Examples of recent projects include:
BHP Billiton The Foundation was engaged to conduct a review and analysis of the community investment programs of the BHP Billiton businesses operational in WA, to identify areas of best practice in community engagement. The aim was to determine areas of collaboration, for the ultimate benefit of the WA community.
BHP Billiton Iron Ore The Foundation has been working with WA Iron Ore for over 2 years, assisting them to better focus their community investment program to ensure the best possible outcomes for the community and their business. In partnership with Coakes Consulting, the Foundation undertook an extensive review of Iron Ore’s community partnership program. The Foundation was then appointed to implement the recommendations from the review, which entailed designing a new operating framework and relevant tools and procedures for the revamped Community Investment Program (CIP). This program has been operating successfully for over 12 months and is being very well received by their host communities, as well as their business. The Foundation has also provided marketing and communication advice and services for the CIP program. Due to the success of this work, the Foundation has recently completed a further project, to identify and map the Sustainability team’s cross functional stakeholder relationships and processes. The objective of this work was to provide an overview of the operations of the team and to identify improvements to benefit the business and the communities in which it operates.
BHP Billiton Nickel West The Foundation was engaged to process map Nickel West’s community relations program and recommend improvements to the program’s operations. This successful project has seen the implementation of a more consistent and effective community relations programs across all of Nickel West’s regional and metropolitan operations.
RAC WA The Foundation was engaged to develop the business case and plan for a proposed new RAC philanthropic foundation for the community of Western Australia. The business case outlined a number of different options that the Board are reviewing.
Rio Tinto and the Wickham Community Association Rio Tinto (Pilbara Iron) engaged the Foundation to work with the Wickham Community Association to establish a way forward for this important community group and its major operation, the Wickham Picture Gardens. It was felt that the Association would benefit from some strategic advice as to how it could grow and develop in what is an increasingly changing community. The Foundation worked with the Wickham and surrounding communities to develop a options for the future paper and management plan, which was workshopped with the Community Association.
Crosslands Resources Ltd The Foundation was engaged to provide advice on the implementation of their new community support program that was launched this year.
