South West Community Foundation

The South West Community Foundation has been established under the trusteeship of Western Australian Community Foundation for the benefit of communities within the South West region.

Launched in 2007 by a founding donation from the South West Development Commission, the South West Community Foundation aims to support initiatives that develop the physical, social and future capacity of communities, within areas such as:
  • youth;
  • community leadership;
  • safer communities;
  • aged care;
  • community diversity; and
  • enhance environmental sustainability.
Western Australian Community Foundation can receive donations, bequests or gifts of stock and property on behalf of South West Community Foundation.  Individuals, families, businesses, clubs and corporations can all show that they are actively supporting the South West community by making a donation.  Donations and gifts are accepted and managed by Western Australian Community Foundation to earn annual income which is reinvested to the South West community as a regular source of funds today, and for future generations.

Local Advisory Committee

A local advisory committee, made up of dedicated and community minded members from across the South West region, has been established to act as the representative local body for the South West Community Foundation.  Volunteers are required to: understand community needs and local culture; keep up-to-date of current and relevant projects; and provide advice to the Western Australian Community Foundation, as Trustee, on how funds can best be distributed to meet current and emerging local needs.  Local advisory committee members are:

Wendy Perdon (Chair) ph 0427 088 530

Thanks to the generosity of the local community, more than $9,000 of income earned from donations made to the South West Community Foundation was shared amongst grass roots initiatives, with five deserving projects being supported as part of the 2008 fund distribution program.  The worthy South West initiatives include the Walpole Community Telecentre, Volunteer South West, Escape Youth Group, Smart Events and the St John Ambulance Sub-Centre at Boyup Brook.

The South West Community Foundation also continues to be a proud partner of the 'Out There' Mobile Youth Space Van launched in 2007 by former Premier, Hon. Alan Carpenter MLA.  For booking information contact Jobs South West.

"I am delighted to be involved with an initiative that will benefit the South West community.  The development of the South West Community Foundation enables donors to reinvest in the community in which they live and which is important to them.  The South West Community Foundation will surely result in improved services to benefit all."
